At least ten people were reportedly killed in a raid in Somali security forces on a former warlord in the capital Mogadishu on Friday, medical sources said.
Clashes erupted in the Wadajir district when government forces backed by African troops raided the house of former mayor Ahmed Daaci as part of a campaign on unlicensed arms," an eyewitness told Anadolu Agency.
Eleven people were injured in the violence, medical sources said.
Somali authorities have yet to comment.
The Somali government has recently launched a campaign on unlicensed weapons in the violence-wracked Horn of Africa country.
Somalia has remained in the grip of political violence since the outbreak of civil war in 1991.
