Five people were killed in a rebel attack on a Darfur refugee camp in western Sudan, a Sudanese official said Friday.
"An armed group affiliated to the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minnawi attacked a refugee camp in the town of Bleil before security forces in the camp stood up to them," South Darfur State Governor Adam Mahmoud Jar El-Nabi told the Ashorooq satellite television channel.
The violence left one civilian and four soldiers dead, he added.
Darfur has been ravaged by deadly conflict since 2003, when three local rebel groups took up arms against the Khartoum government.
In December 2010, the Sudan Liberation Movement withdrew from the Darfur Peace Agreement, which had been signed four years earlier with Khartoum.Güncelleme Tarihi: 11 Ocak 2014, 10:15
