The African Union on Sunday congratulated Togo's incumbent President Faure Gnassingbe on his re-election.
"Congratulations to President Faure Gnassingbe for re-election as president of Togo," AU Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma wrote on her official Twitter handle.
"We encourage any electoral disputes to seek non-violent resolution and to always be channeled through established institutions," she added.
Earlier Sunday, Togo's Constitutional Court confirmed Gnassingbe as winner of April's presidential election.
Justice Aboudou Assouma said Gnassingbe had received the highest number of votes in the April 25 polls.
The announcement of the Constitutional Court cannot be appealed.
On Tuesday, Togo's Independent National Electoral Commission said Gnassingbe had won 58.75 percent of the votes in the presidential polls compared to 34.95 percent for opposition leader Jean Pierre Fabre.Güncelleme Tarihi: 04 Mayıs 2015, 09:47
