The Arab League is planning an international conference to mobilize efforts for rebuilding the southern Sudanese province of South Kordofan, an official with the pan-Arab body said Thursday.
The Arab League is currently coordinating efforts with the Sudanese government and Islamic humanitarian organizations operating in the country for the planned conference, Arab League's special envoy for humanitarian affairs Sheikha Hafsa bint Khalifa Al Thani told reporters in Cairo.
The statements came after she submitted a report on the humanitarian situation in Sudan to Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi. However, she did not say when the planned conference is to take place.
In August, several Sudanese provinces, including South Kordofan, were hit hard by a wave of floods and torrential rains, which left 39 people dead, 25 injured and thousands of houses destroyed.Güncelleme Tarihi: 03 Ekim 2014, 11:24
