Bangui Mayor Catherine Samba Panza has been elected the new interim president of the Central African Republic (CAR).
"The National Transitional Council (NTC) has elected her as interim president," a well-placed source told Anadolu Agency on Monday.
The last round of voting was between Panza and Desire, the son of former president Andre Kolingba.
The NTC's special electoral commission had earlier approved the applications of only 8 out of 24 applicants.
The new interim president will replace Michel Djotodia, who had stepped down earlier this month under international and regional pressures.Güncelleme Tarihi: 20 Ocak 2014, 18:05
