Number of causalties reached 39 as 11 died, 28 were injured in the clashes following the ouster of Mohamed Morsi in Egypt on Thursday.

Five people died in northern province of Alexandria while three died and 28 including three policemen were injured in southern province of al-Minya.

Army's intervention is being protested in Assiut, al-Minya and Aswan citiies by pro-Morsi groups.

Protesters in al-Minya are reported to have attacked police buildings, while a police truck was torched.

Police and army used tear gas, said sources.

On Wednesday six police officers were killed when gunmen attacked troops outside the headquarters of the Matrouh Police Department and Governorate.
