Egypt releases Ultras Ahlawy members

Egyptian judicial authorities on Saturday released 25 members of the Ultras Ahlaway, hardcore fans of Egypt's Ahly football club.

They were arrested last week on charges of riots and assaulting police forces during clashes outside Cairo airport.

At least 13 people were injured as police moved in to disperse about 600 Ultras Ahlawy members who tried to get into Cairo airport's terminal to greet their handball team coming from Morocco after losing the African Cup final to Tunisia's Esperance.

The Interior Ministry said that 19 Ultras Ahlawy members were arrested, while the group said around 150 members were seized and accused security forces of firing birdshots and live ammunition at its members.

Saturday's release came after Ultras Ahlawy members paid for the damage caused during last week's violence, according Civil Aviation Minister Abdel-Aziz Fadil.
