Egypt named its new government on Monday, appointing a new finance and a new interior minister while other key names such as the defence minister stayed the same, state television said.
Mohamed Hussein Tantawi was promoted to deputy prime minister alongside his role as defence minister.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit remains as foreign minister.
Samir Mohamed Radwan was named finance minister.
Samiha Fawzi Ibrahim was named trade minister.
General Mahmoud Wagdy, previously head of Cairo criminal investigations department and also a former head of prisons, was named the new interior minister, confirming what sources had earlier told Reuters.
Protesters who have shaken Egypt's political system to its core had demanded former Interior Minister Habib al-Adli be sacked after police beat, teargassed and fired rubber bullets on demonstrators.
