The Tunisian Interior Ministry said that at least one fighter was killed and three others were arrested in a late Saturday raid in the northern province of Ariana.
A police SWAT team besieged a house where "terrorists" were holing up in Naseem neighborhood before a gunfight erupted, ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui told a local private radio station.
The shootout left one fighter dead while three others were arrested, including one suspected of involvement in last year's assassinations of prominent opposition figures Mohamed Brahmi and Chokri Belaid, he said.
Three policemen were also injured in the firefight, he added.
Last week, Interior Minister Lotfi Bin Jeddou announced that Kamel Gadhgadhi, the main suspect in Belaid's assassination, was killed in a deadly standoff with police in Tuesday.
At least seven other "terrorists" were also killed in the operation, which took place in Tunis' northern Raoued district, security source said.Last Mod: 09 Şubat 2014, 12:15
