Sahbi Atiq, head of the Ennahda movement's bloc in parliament, has reversed an earlier decision to resign his post, Tunisia's leading Islamist group said Thursday.
In a statement, the movement said Atiq had decided to remain at his post following an extraordinary meeting of Ennahda's executive bureau.
The move came one day after Atiq tendered his resignation as head of Ennahda's parliamentary bloc in Tunisia's Constituent Assembly.
Local media attributed the move to a dispute between Atiq and a female lawmaker who recently accused him of making "insulting" comments, prompting him to apologize.
Atiq has led Ennahda's 89-member parliamentary bloc since 2011.Last Mod: 08 Mayıs 2014, 13:53
