Kenyan Defense Forces in Somalia carried out a week-long offensive that led to the death of 84 Al Shabab militants.
According to Kenya Defense Forces spokesman Col David Obonyo the armed group had been drastically weakened.
“We managed to kill 24 Al Shabab members a few kilometers from Baradhere town in Somalia yesterday,” Obonyo said. “Only two of our soldiers were injured and they are currently being treated. Eight soldiers from the Somali National army were injured while two others died.”
Earlier this week, Kenyan forces bombarded Baradera town in southern Somalia, killing 60 fighters.
Obonyo said the Kenyan Defense Forces are winning the fight against the Somali-based Al Qaeda-affiliated armed group.
