U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday for an unannounced visit during which he will hold talks with senior Somali officials, according to government sources.
Upon his arrival, Washington's top diplomat headed to a meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, the sources, requesting anonymity, told The Anadolu Agency.
"The visit was unannounced due to security reasons," one source told AA, noting that Kerry's talks with Somali officials would tackle the latest developments in the country and means of enhancing U.S. support for the Somali government.
Kerry is due to leave the Somali capital within hours to Djibouti as part of a tour of East Africa.Güncelleme Tarihi: 05 Mayıs 2015, 14:48
