Supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsi have called for rallies to the Cairo airport on Friday.
The "Youth against coup" movement said the rallies would be staged following the weekly prayers.
"There is no intention to stage a sit-in there," a leader of the movement told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.
He argued that the rallies to the Cairo airport were meant to "break all psychological barriers set up by the coup leaders to stop protests."
Previous rallies to the Cairo airport had been aborted by security forces.
Egypt has been in a state of turmoil since the army ousted democratically-elected Morsi following mass protests against his presidency.
