United Nations (UN) stated Wednesday toppled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's release was an interior issue of Egypt.

Deputy spokesperson of UN Secretary General Eduardo del Buey said a court decision on Mubarak's release was "an interior affair".

An Egyptian court on Wednesday ordered Mubarak’s release after accepting his lawyers' appeal against charges that he had received millions of Egyptian pounds worth of "gifts" from flagship state daily Al-Ahram while in office.

It was the last case for which Mubarak had been remanded in custody.

Meanwhile, the decision of ousted Mubarak's exonerating was protested and condemned in several cities of Egypt.

Protesters gathered in Cairo's Helwan neighbourhood to stage a rally on the decision of "military junta's exonerating of ousted Mubarak."

Anti-coup protesters, who want the Mubarak regime to topple, shouted slogans supporting first elected Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi.

Protests were also staged in Alexandria, Northern Sinai, al-Faiyum, Beni Suef, al-Minia and Asyut cities.

An Egyptian court on Wednesday had ordered the release of toppled president Hosni Mubarak.

It was the last case for which Mubarak had been remanded in custody.

Mubarak was ousted in Egypt's 2011 popular revolution after having ruled the country since the 1981 assassination of president Anwar Sadat.

Buey also said Jeffrey Feltman -- under-secretary general for political affairs -- arrived in Egyptian capital Cairo on Tuesday and met Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy and Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi.

"Feltman is in Cairo to listen. The Secretary General wanted him to listen to Egyptians to better understand the incidents in Egypt and to specify what UN could do," Buey said.
