A Muslim cleric was on Saturday found dead in Central Kenya's Embu town, a source said.
"I have been in touch with Embu police and the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims," Adan Wachu, the secretary-general of the council, said.
"They both confirmed that indeed it is the body of the sheikh," he told The Anadolu Agency.
The body was identified as that of Mohamed Ali Kheir, a Muslim cleric who was arrested by Kenyan authorities on Thursday in the eastern town of Garissa, some 400km from Embu, where his body was found on Saturday.
Some Garissa Muslim leaders say that the cleric might have been subjected to what they describe as "extrajudicial killing" by Kenya's Anti-Terror Police Unit.
Four Muslim clerics were killed in Kenya in 2014 alone.Güncelleme Tarihi: 28 Aralık 2014, 11:00
