Nigeria's Kaduna state Governor Namadi Sambo was sworn in as vice president of Africa's most populous country on Wednesday, state television showed.
President Goodluck Jonathan, government ministers, state governors and ambassadors watched as Sambo took the oath of office at the presidential villa in Abuja.
"You will be meeting with the economic team regularly to make sure that our commitments to Nigerians are kept. I promise you full cooperation with you," Jonathan told the audience immediately after Sambo took the oath of office.
Sambo is a relative newcomer to national politics, elected to his first term as governor in 2007.
