Sudan's Foreign Minister Ali Karti said what Egypt has been going through is Egpyt's internal matters and it must seek to solve its problems without foreign intervention.
Kerti told a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Nabil Fahmy, who arrived in Khartoum on Monday, Sudan supports Egypt and Egyptian people to reach consensus and peace. He expressed hope that Egypt would solve its political turmoil through dialogue.
Karti said they mainly discussed the unrest in Egypt but also tackled other issues.
The African Union (AU) had made a decision to suspend Egypt’s membership following the ousting of President Mohamed Morsi.
Karti called for patience and dialogue with the AU in order for Egypt to reclaim its AU seat, reiterating Sudan’s stance on Egypt.
Fahmy, on his first visit abroad since assuming office, said the decision of the AU to suspend Egypt's membership was made fast and unthoughtfully adding "Egypt has not left the union and will not."
"We will continue to work in dialogue with the African countries," he said.
He stressed he was on a mission to clarify the situation in Egypt for its neighbors particularly Sudan.
Egypt is on the "right path" and would push ahead with its "road map", he said adding "Our top priority is the national security of Egypt."Güncelleme Tarihi: 20 Ağustos 2013, 11:30
