A Turkish citizen, Resat Oz was detained on Monday in Suez, the seaport city in north eastern Egypt, and placed in prison.

Resat Oz was accused of espionage and participating in illegal demonstrations, said sources from the Egyptian Interior Ministry.

On the other hand, Oz denied all accusations about him and claimed to have been in Egypt for work.

The Suez prosecution office decided on the completion of the questioning of Oz, extending the detention period for 15 days.

Resat Oz was said to have been placed into a prison in Suez while the Turkish Embassy in Cairo objected to the additional 15 day-detention period handed to Oz by the Suez prosecution office.
