Former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has criticized President Barack Obama over his policy in Afghanistan, saying “I never doubted Obama’s support for the troops, only his support for their mission.”
He also claimed that Obama had no trust in his military commanders, after he began to suspect them following a press conference in which General David Petraeus said he was not comfortable setting a withdrawal date of troops from Afghanistan.
Gates slammed Obama, saying he “doesn’t believe in his own strategy, and doesn’t consider the war to be his. For him, it’s all about getting out.”
Speaking on Joe Biden, Gates also said “I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades."
He also went on to claim the the Obama administration is the most centralized government since Richard Nixon, with figures in Obama’s iner-circle with only academic or political backgrounds trying to micromanage the military, which he said had only proven ‘disastrous’ in the past.Güncelleme Tarihi: 08 Ocak 2014, 18:15
