New York's La Guardia airport was closed Monday, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said after the nose of a Southwest Airlines jet reportedly collapsed onto the runway on landing.
Images broadcast by television channels showed the plane -- identified by the airline as flight 345 from Nashville -- with its nose angled down to the ground and surrounded by emergency vehicles.
Eight people were injured Monday as the front landing gear collapsed on an airplane of Southwest Airlines flight numbered 345 when it arrived in New York's LaGuardia Airport from Nashville, capital of the State of Tennessee, in the US.
Airline officials said there were 150 people on the plane, but did not provide any further detail about the accident and the health condition of the wounded people.
