Obama, Vietnam leader meet at White House

US President said on Tuesday he discussed with Vietnam's General Secretary Ngyen Phu Trong the importance of resolving maritime disputes in the S. China Sea.

President Barack Obama and Vietnam's Communist Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong discussed differences over human rights during their meeting at the White House, the two men said on Tuesday.

They also discussed the importance of resolving maritime disputes in the South China Sea in accordance with international law.

Trong, during remarks at the White House with Obama, said he shared his concerns about the South China Sea issue with the president.

U.S. President Barack Obama has accepted an invitation from Vietnam's Communist Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong to visit Vietnam, the Vietnamese leader said on Tuesday.

Obama, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office during their meeting, said he looked forward to visiting Vietnam sometime in the future.
