US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday that State Department spending cannot continue at the current pace.
He was reacting to President Donald Trump's plans to cut the department's budget by 28 percent.
"We are going to be able to do a lot with fewer dollars," he said, though acknowledged it will not be easy.
"I take the challenge that the president has given us on willingly," he said.
"And with great expectation, and with everybody in the State Department's assistance, we're going to deliver a much better result for the American people in the future."
But Tillerson also said that the State Department "is coming off a historically high allocation of resources", something he said it must "recognise".Güncelleme Tarihi: 16 Mart 2017, 10:37
