The U.S. Capitol building is on lockdown Friday morning out of an abundance of caution due to police activity.
No one is permitted to enter or exit until directed by U.S. Capitol Police.
People inside have been told to close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows, and to silence mobile phones.
Those inside should move to their office's assigned shelter-in-place location or the innermost part of the office, away from external doors or windows. Those not near their offices should take shelter in the nearest office and then check in with their OEC.
The House has gone into recess until the situation is resolved.
