Vice President Joe Biden on Monday blasted Donald Trump's foreign policy proposals saying that it reflects the “insecurity of a bully.”
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s policy proposals such as building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, torturing terror suspects and their families as well as banning Muslims form entering the U.S. were targeted by Biden at an annual conference of the Center for New American Security think tank in Washington.
"If we build walls and disrespect our closest neighbors, we will quickly see all this progress disappear -- replaced by a return of anti-Americanism and a corrosive rift throughout our hemisphere," Biden said without mentioning Trump’s name.
The vice president emphasized that American leadership in the world is based on the country’s ability to live up to its values, adding that it is a "serious and tragic mistake” to denigrate U.S. partners as liabilities.
"Adopting the tactics of our enemies -- using torture, threatening to kill innocent family members, indiscriminately bombing civilian populations -- not only violates our values, it’s deeply damaging to our security," Biden said. "Wielding the politics of fear and intolerance -- like proposals to ban Muslims from entering the United States or slandering entire religious communities as complicit in terrorism -- calls into question America’s status as the greatest democracy in the history of the world."
Trump demanded the U.S. ban Muslims from entering the country in the wake of the San Bernardino, California, attack last November when a self-radicalized couple killed 14 victims and wounded 22 others.
Trump reiterated his demand last week following a massacre in Orlando, Florida, in which a gunman killed 49 victims.Last Mod: 21 Haziran 2016, 11:25
