The White House has received the Pentagon's review of plans to defeat ISIL, after President Donald Trump demanded that top brass find additional ways to destroy the militants in Syria and Iraq, an official said Monday.

One of Trump's central campaign pledges was to quicken the fight against ISIL, and he berated the administration of his predecessor Barack Obama for taking too long to do so.

"The White House will begin reviewing the recommendations," the official said on condition of anonymity.
