The Turkish Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) brought the heads of state and 1,500 businessmen from 53 countries to Istanbul.

Economy experts and scholars from all over the world joined the organization and at the first day of the organization they met in Grand Cevahir Hotel.

The forum started with speech of the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after recition of the Holy Qur'an and folks and the cinevision.

MUSIAD's guests include the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), ministers and chamber heads from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Australia and Singapore.

According to MUSIAD Chairman Omer Bolat, the organization will help advertise Turkey and contribute at least $2 billion to the real economy through potential commercial and investment deals.

The OIC, the IDB, Turkish Foreign Trade Undersecretary, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Organization, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Turkish Airlines are supporting the forum and fair organized by MUSIAD.

Bolat said the first leg of the organization included the international collaboration that has representatives from 350 firms, 50 of them foreign. The second leg includes the international business forum attended by prime ministers and ministers from 15 countries.

The 11th International Fair, called "Afro-Eurasia's largest reference fair," by Bolat will host nearly 4,000 foreign and domestic businessmen at the CNR Expo Center Nov. 22-26.

Bolat noted they sent delegations to 22 countries to publicize the fair and added the fair has grown by 60 percent in the last two years. "This is the Turkey's largest collaboration in terms of capacity and business connections volume. It will be held on a 27,000-square meter closed area with the participation of 350 firms, 50 of them foreign. We are expecting over 150,000 visitors."

According to the MUSIAD chairman, Arab firms in particular were willing to cooperate and establish partnerships with their Turkish counterparts.

Bolat recalled Turkey chose a "partner country" every year ahead of the fair, naming Syria the partner country for 2006.

Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Dardari is expected to represent his country with 100 Syrian businessmen.

Damascus Commercial Village will be set up on a 400 square-meter area, and domestic Syrian products and services will be exhibited.

MUSIAD 11th International Fair will be simultaneously held Nov. 23-26 at the CNR Expo Center.
