8 Turks wounded in German fire leave hospital

Doctors discharged Saturday eight Turks who were wounded in a building fire in Germany after they spent the night at hospital.

A fire broke out in a building where Turks were living in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on Friday night and eight Turks were wounded due to smoke inhalation.

Dogan (8), Mazlum (9), Baran (3), Rojin (11-month), Bersen (6), Kader (20) and Rehal (5-month) and 27-year-old mother Leyla Arslan were hospitalized after the fire.

"Our German neighbor living in the opposite building realized the fire," Leyla Arslan told AA correspondent.

Leyla Arslan said, "we noticed the fire when they called us to get out, but then there was smoke in our house. Relief teams took us to hospital."

Turks, an Albanian and a German family were living together in the building. There is around 20,000 Euro damage in the building after the fire.

On the other hand, Gelsenkirchen police said it is not an arson attack, and they are investigating the cause of the fire.
