A Turkish author was detained Friday over suspected ties to a shadowy ultranationalist group, sources close to the investigation said.
Ergun Poyraz was detained in the early morning at his home in Ankara and flown to Istanbul for questioning by police.
Poyraz is suspected of having links to an ultra-nationalist group that came to light with a police raid last month on a house in Istanbul in which 27 hand grenades and several detonators were seized.
Police have detained several suspects, among them retired army officers, and reportedly seized more weapons, explosives, and secret military documents in subsequent raids.
Poyraz is the author of several non-fiction books.
