Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said he would only agree to testify before a UN team investigating the murder of Lebanese premier Rafiq Hariri if their request had a legal basis.
In an interview with the Cairo weekly Al-Usbuh, Al-Assad said former vice president Abdul Halim Khaddam was involved in a plot against Syria before he resigned in June.
He rejected allegations by Khadam that he threatened Hariri before the latter was assassinated saying the meeting was only between Hariri and me and if they claimed that the meeting was recorded by Hariri why didn't they make it public.
