Albaraka Turk General Manager Adnan Buyukdeniz, seen as one of the most important economists of Turkey in recent years, passed away Monday this morning in the hospital that he was treated.

Albaraka Turk Participation Bank Inc. 's general manager Buyukdeniz is planned to be buried at family cemetery in Cekmekoy after the noon prayer on Tuesday October 20 in Marmara University Theology Faculty Mosque in Baglarbası in Istanbul.

Who is Dr. Adnan Buyukdeniz?

Born in 1958 in Adana, Adnan Buyukdeniz completed his high school education in 1975 in Texas where he studied with a scholarship. Graduated from Bogazici University's Department of Economics in 1980, Buyukdeniz received his diploma in Business at London University's London School of Economics in 1981, and obtained the Master of Science Degree in1982.

Adnan Buyukdeniz worked as Economics Research Specialist between 1983-1985 and as a consultant between 1985-1994 in TUSIAD. Joining Albaraka Turk at the end of 1985, Buyukdeniz completed his doctoral studies at the University of Istanbul in 1990. Buyukdeniz was appointed to the Directorate General of Albaraka Turk on June 2003 .

Been a board member of various banking and investment fund management companies abroad, Buyukdeniz taught Monetary Theory and Policy, International Economics and similar courses at the University of Marmara between the years of 1992-2000. Buyukdeniz's book "Interest Policies in Turkey" received the first prize for Economics from Milliyet newspaper in 1992.

Written hundreds of daily newspaper articles on the subject of Turkey's economy, Dr. Buyukdeniz was also a professional photographer.

Buyukdeniz worked as a founder and active member in many NGOs, including Abundance Foundation (Bereket Vakfı).
