Azerbaijan-Armenia presidents meet in Russia
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met Thursday with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian on economic and regional issues in the Caucasus.

Russia has been mediating talks between the its ally Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorny Karabakh.

Medvedev's spokeswoman Natalya Timakova said no breakthrough was made. "The main thing is that Azerbaijan and Armenia are demonstrating their readiness for dialogue," she said.

The three presidents were due to meet again for an evening boat ride.

Azeri land has been under Armenian occupation in early 1990s in which nearly 30,000 people died and 2 million were forced to flee their homes.

Shootings between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces in the region remain common despite a 1994 cease fire.
