The House of Commons, the Canadian parliament's lower house, voted 202 to 7 against an amendment proposed by the opposition Liberals, which would have brought down the government if passed.
The New Democratic Party (NDP) and Bloc Quebecois, two other opposition parties, sided with the ruling Conservatives in the vote, leading to the landslide victory.
The Liberals had vowed they would not let the government fall over the budget and only a few Liberal members were present for the vote.
Under Canadian law, a string of confidence votes are held annually over the government budget. The Conservative government had won an amendment tabled by NDP last Thursday with another key vote coming up Tuesday.
