Chirac questioned over 'fake jobs' scandal
Former French President Jacques Chirac Thursday appeared before a judge as a "witness" in connection with the "fake jobs" scandal when he was the mayor of Paris, French magazine "Paris Match" has reported on its website.

The hearing took place at the former work station of the former president, which is located at the heart of Paris, according to the website.

The "fake jobs" scandal concerns several members of Chirac's Rally for the Republic (RPR) party, whose salaries were paid by Paris City Hall when Chirac was the mayor.

Alain Juppe, who was the deputy mayor at the time, has already been convicted and sentenced in connection with the scandal.
