Czech court adjourns EU treaty case until Nov 3

The Czech Constitutional Court heard a complaint against the European Union's Lisbon Treaty on Tuesday and will most likely deliver a ruling on Nov 3, court officials said.

The complaint, filed by a group of conservative members of the Czech upper house, is a key obstacle to the completion of the treaty's ratification in the Czech Republic.

The court case is closely followed in EU capitals because the Czech Republic is the only country in the 27-member European Union that has not yet ratified the document, aimed at streamlining decision-making in the bloc and give it a greater role on the world scene.
