Dr. Aziz Duweik, speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC) on Wednesday told a delegation of the ultra orthodox Jewish group " Neturei Karta" that the Palestinian people were not against Jews or the Jewish people but rather are against the Zionist Movement.
He affirmed that Muslims believe in prophet Moses and all other prophets of Allah.
Muslims could never think of harming Jews or Christians, the PLC speaker underlined, recalling that Jews had lived in peace among Muslims for many centuries.
Duweik reaffirmed that the Palestinian people's main problem is with the Zionist Movement (which is ruling Israel) that refuses to recognize the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
Ten members of the Neturei Karta group, which refuses to recognize Israel, had called on the PLC and attended part of the council's session that started on Tuesday.
At another meeting with a student delegation of the Cambridge University, Duweik explained how the Israeli occupation forces had divided the West Bank into 64 separate cantons separated by hundreds of military roadblocks.
He also referred to the economic siege on the Gaza Strip and the Israeli daily shelling of it.
The speaker said that the PLC was currently pondering launching a worldwide campaign under the slogan of "Rid the Palestinian people from the slavery of occupation".
Duweik asked the students to support this campaign when launched, then tabled a historical explanation of the Palestine problem and its people's suffering for over a hundred years.
He pointed out that the PLO and the PA had recognized Israel but the later never recognized the Palestinian people or an independent state for this people.
"Our people wants peace and stability and hates violence, but this wish is met with aggression, more occupation and unilateral solutions on the part of Israel," Duweik asserted.
