Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that his visit to Nakhchevan would further strengthen the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Speaking to reporters at Ankara's international Esenboga Airport prior to his departure for Nakhchevan, Erdogan said that he would leave for Nakhchevan as the guest of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"We will hold tete-a-tete meeting with Aliyev, and also chair meetings between Turkish and Azerbaijani delegations. We will discuss bilateral relations and cooperation as well as regional and international developments," Erdogan said.

Erdogan said that energy projects, which had global importance such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines, were implemented between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

He added that Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project was initiated in Tbilisi on November 21st, 2007. Erdogan said that tender for Turkey part of a project, which would connect Central Asia to Europe via Caucasus and Turkey, was completed. He added that the implementation of the project would start in July.

"We will discuss this project and several others during my meetings," he said.

Erdogan said that his visit would further strengthen the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan and contribute to stability in the region.
