Ethiopian minister in Turkey for business council meeting
Ethiopian Trade Minister Birru and a delegation of Ethiopian industrialists visited the Aegean Chamber of Industry in Turkey.
Trade & Industry Minister Girma Birru of Ethiopia and a delegation of Ethiopian industrialists visited the Aegean Chamber of Industry (EBSO) in the western province of Izmir on Monday.
Turkish and Ethiopian industrialists held a Turkey-Ethiopia Business Council meeting.
Birru said that the two countries had a very important potential, adding that this potential could be used for the prosperity of both countries.
The relations between Turkey and Ethiopia had been boosted in recent period but could not reach the desired level, Birru said and stated that they targeted a half billion USD of bilateral trade volume.
EBSO chairperson Ender Yorgancilar said that Turkey and Ethiopia wanted to establish a trade bridge, adding that trade volume between the two countries in 2008 had been 188.7 million USD.
Yorgancilar said that Turkey exported iron & steel, electric devices, animal and vegetable oil, copper and copper products to Ethiopia; and imported oily seeds, fruits, cotton, electrical machines, iron & steel from that country.
Yorgancilar said that Aegean region exported products worth of 4.8 million USD to Ethiopia in 2008.
Ethiopia is the guest of honor of the 78th Izmir International Fair that opened on August 28.
