EU, changed the Green Line Statute, regulating the circulation of goods, people and services between Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides in Cyprus.
A press release issued by EU General Affairs and Foreign Relations Council Monday said the change aimed at enhancing commercial and economic integration of the island.
The new statute abolish the customs tax on agricultural goods exported from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and increases the limit on commercial value of goods individuals can carry in their luggage --when travelling between Greek and Turkish Cyriot sides-- to 260 Euros.
The press release said EU acting President Slovenia believed that the change to the Green Line statute would make a minor contribution to the positive atmosphere in the island and therefore there was need for an agreement over further confidence building measures.
