First meeting on Turkish speaking states
First vice-speaker of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan parliament) Ziyafat Asgarov is attending the first meeting of the Interparliamentary Council of Turkish-Speaking Countries started Thursday in Antalya.

Deputy Speaker of Turkish parliament Nevzat Pakdil, Vice Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Mukhambet Kopeyev and Vice Speaker of Kyrgyzstan Parliament Kubanychbek Isabekov are also attending the event.

The agenda of the meeting includes adoption of a declaration, confirmation of official name, logotype and working language of the Council, creation of a secretariat, as well as exchange of views on budget and financial issues.

Nevzat Pakdil said the aim of the meeting is to discuss prospects for strengthening cooperation between the parliaments of Turkish-speaking states, as well as to set preparatory issues for a meeting of interparliamentary council of those countries on the level of chairmen of parliaments.

Venue and date of the said meeting will be defined today (February 22).
