Founder of Turkish leftist party DSP resigns
Rahsan Ecevit, Democratic Left Party's (DSP) founder chairperson, resigned from her party on Thursday.

Releasing a written statement, Ecevit said that she would not serve in the party until the current DSP administration quit.

Rahsan Ecevit founded DSP on November 14, 1985. She is the spouse of the late Turkish politician and former prime minister Bulent Ecevit.

Bulent Ecevit was leader of Republican People's Party (CHP), later of DSP and four-time Prime Minister of Turkey. He passed away in 2006.
