A source close to Sarkozy's office said that French President will send in the coming days two envoys to Damascus, his advisor Jean-David Levitte and Secretary General of Elysee Claude Gueant.

During the phone call, French President expressed desire to boost relations between Syria and France particularly in the political and social fields, and to increase coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual concern.

Sarkozy also expressed his country's support to Syria to restore its rights and to push the peace process in the region forwards.
