A U.S. drone aircraft missile killed 10 people on Saturday in a strike on Pakistan's tribal region of Bajaur, a government official said.
The strike took place on Saturday on a village 15km north of Khar, the main town of the restive Bajaur tribal district.
One security official claimed that a house was targeted in Damadola village, saying all the dead were "fighters."
But the deputy chief of the local administration Mohammad Jamil has said that for now he can only confirm "that 14 people have been killed in the drone attack and the toll is likely to rise."
"The missile hit home of Maulvi Faqir and we have reports of ten dead," Abdul Malik, an official in the region, told Reuters by telephone.
Another security official said that a tunnel linked to a bunker in the house of a relative of local Tehreek-e-Taliban chief Maulvi Faqir Mohammad was targeted.
Some relatives of Mohammad are among the dead and eight others were injured in the strike, he said.
