G7 alarmed Russia may recognize rebels in Georgia
The world's leading industrial nations, known as the Group of Seven, are alarmed at reports Russia may recognize two rebel regions of Georgia as independent states, a U.S. State Department spokesman said on Monday.

In a conference call, senior officials of the seven nations agreed they are "united in support of Georgia's territorial integrity," the spokesman said, adding that they are "alarmed by reports of Russia's plans to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia," the two breakaway regions of Georgia.
