Third Army Commander Gen. Ethem Erdagi has been found guilty of misusing his authority and sentenced to 11 months and 25 days in prison and pay a fine of 213 YTY (nearly 158 USD).
He was also banned from his tenure for a period of 2 months of 28 days.
The military court at the General Staff announced its verdict in a case about the tender for a construction at the 8th Army Corps in the eastern city of Elazig.
Nine suspects including Gen. Erdagi were found guilty of misusing their authority.
They were sentenced to several imprisonment terms, fines and bans from their tenure.
Meanwhile, the court also ruled that Gen. Erdagi should pay 10 percent of the financial damage of 216 thousand YTL (nearly 161 thousand USD).
All punishments were suspended. Lawyers of the suspects said that they will appeal the verdict.
