Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, the head of the Hamas parliamentary bloc in the PLC, has asserted that his Movement would not accept the release of the captured Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip without meeting conditions set by his captors, which includes Hamas' armed wing along with two other factions.
"All mediation efforts focus on releasing the soldier in return for promises, a matter that we refuse," Hayya said in a rally organized in Gaza city Monday night.
The captured soldier would be only released when Israel pays the price of releasing Palestinian prisoners from its jails, he said, adding, "I don't think that any Palestinian would accept setting that soldier free for gratis or in return for mere promises".
The MP reflected his Movement's annoyance at the increasing pressure to release the Israeli corporal.
Meanwhile, political observers expresses surprise at the fact that Arab and international mediations organized hectic moves to convince the Palestinian resistance to set free the captured Israeli soldier while none acted to demand the release of the PLC duly elected speaker and other MPs and PA cabinet members.
