As a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran "has 100 percent responsibility to show transparency" on the nuclear issue, Gül said during a joint press conference with his Bahraini counterpart, Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, who is on an official visit to Turkey.
Gül said it was every country's right to acquire nuclear energy and develop it through peaceful means but emphasized that it was the responsibility of the parties that signed the treaty to act with "full transparency" in their efforts to produce nuclear energy.
Iran insists that its program is peaceful and aimed only at producing power.
"We agree on the need for the region to be free of nuclear weapons," said Al Khalifa.
