But Sami Abu Zuhri confirmed that there were mediation by Egypt and Saudi Arabia to secure a mutual meeting between Hamas and Fatah.

Accusing President Mahmoud Abbas of blocking the Arab efforts by his preconditions, Abu Zuhri said, "The Arab mediations still collide with the impossible preconditions that Abbas outlines."

Abu Zuhri ruled out that Hamas may make concessions upon Abbas' demands, saying that "Hamas can't step back and it is not fair to make those who call for dialogue and those who reject equal."

Abbas wants Hamas to abandon control on Gaza security sector, make an apology on the "coup" and recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization as the solo representative of the people.
