A massive wildfire in Idaho that has burned more than 567,000 acres is threatening the Mountain Home Air Force Base Training Range.
The Bureau of Land Management said the fire's north line was being held by more than 600 firefighters, while the southwestern spread had moved into Nevada on Sunday, the Boise (Idaho) Statesman reported.
There were 11 other wildfires burning in the state, which has seen about 773,000 acres scorched, officials said.
Nevada officials said nine fires had consumed about 371,000 acres, while Oregon reported losing 270,000 acres to eight fires, the newspaper said.
In Idaho, officials said the fires have only burned small outbuildings, while efforts to save homes and businesses have been successful so far.
Extremely dry fuels, high temperatures, low humidity and wind gusts up to 50 mph have hampered firefighters throughout the region, officials said.
