The man known by immigrants for his involvement in human trafficking as 'Captain Ali,' called over a refugee and said: "this is the gas and this is the steering wheel. Go straight and you will reach Sisam in two hours time."
The details of the human tragedy which took place at Seferihisar, Izmir have started to surface.
According to the statements from survivors, two human traffickers took the refugees from Istanbul and Izmir to Seferihisar by vans.
The refugees made a deal with the traffickers for 2,500 Euros each and then boarded onto the ship.
Captain Ali set out to sea; however after 100 meters, the captain called over a Palestinian refugee and told him: "this is gas and this is the brake; go straight and you will reach Sisam in two hours."
Then the captain jumped into the water, disappearing.
The refugees went on for a while; however, the rising waves turned the ship over.
