India Tuesday said that foreign nations were unwilling to share their strategic weapons technologies and emphasised on the need to indigenously develop futuristic defence systems, KUNA reported.
"Nations at best are only willing to provide previous generation tactical systems and that also on unacceptable terms and conditions," Defence Minister A K Antony said at a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry.
"Indias Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the end-users, the armed forces, will have to work with greater synergy to achieve the goal of self-reliance and reduce over dependence on foreign military supplies," Antony stressed.
"DRDO will have to play a crucial role in providing strategic defence with suitable delivery systems to the country," the Minister said, adding, a country like India could not depend on foreign countries for its defence requirements.
